Community Profile: Location“Come Grow With Us” was adopted in 1998 as the City of Huber Heights motto to encourage new residents and businesses. Other mottos at that time included “America’s Largest Community of Brick Homes,” and “The Friendly Community.” Still considered the largest community of brick homes and very friendly, we are growing rapidly. Huber Heights is ideally located in Southwestern Ohio (just northeast of Dayton) and occupies the northeastern corner of Montgomery County. Just a heartbeat away from I-70/75 intersection, Huber Heights offers a springboard to the nation’s top 90 Minute Market. With Columbus and Cincinnati both within 65 miles and Dayton just down the road, Huber Heights is the perfect location for high-tech manufacturers, distributors and retailers. Wright-Patterson Air Force Base is located five miles to the southeast. U.S. Highway Route 40 and State Routes 201, 202, 235 and 4 all run through the City of Huber Heights, allowing for easy traveling and scenic routes throughout Ohio. With a population of nearly 40,000, we offer a combination of hometown charm and modern convenience. Carriage Hill MetroPark and Farm, which offers 900 + acres rich in culture and natural history , including scenic woodlands, meadows, and a beautiful lake is located across the street from the new YMCA. In connection with the YMCA, Sinclair Community College will open classrooms in the fall of 2006 on the grounds of the YMCA. Our 13 parks cover 125 acres and include playgrounds, ball fields, tennis and basketball courts, shelters, picnic areas and walking and bike trails. Huber Heights continues to grow and in fall of 2006 Good Samaritan Hospital will break ground on a new medical facility. Premier Health Partners will develop an ambulatory care center that will provide needed health care services for the growing population. The facility will house primary and specialty care physician offices. Other services planned include full-service imaging, laboratory, physical therapy and sports medicine, women’s and other ancillary services. The 60,000 sq. ft. facility will be the core of a new beginning as plans for a “Town Centre” are in currently being considered. |
