About the Huber Heights Chamber of Commerce
The Huber Heights Chamber of Commerce was formed in Dec. of 1980 by a group of community leaders, businessmen and women. Their goals were to promote business in Huber Heights and have a strong alliance between the community, schools, businesses and government. The promotion of growth and development of businesses in the city are one of its primary missions.
The Chamber is a non-profit organization made up of a 15-member Board of Directors that all volunteer their time and energy. An Executive Director and assistant are paid to run the office and maintain records. The Executive Director represents the Chamber and the City of Huber Heights at State, County and local events. It organizes events such as the “Taking Business to New Heights” business expo that are designed to increase the awareness of businesses in the community.
The Chamber offers its member’s health care, Rx Discount Drug Program, dental care, vision coverage, hearing aid savings, Workers’ Compensation programs, managed care program or Workers’ Compensation, discount rates on mobile phones, a link to local Government, GreaterDaytonWorks.com (an employment locator) access, 50% discount to new members for any one week ad scheduled in Times Communitunities, and many other services. A monthly newsletter is published with information on upcoming events, legislative information and business news.
Every year in August we have approximately 120 golfers at our Annual Golf Scramble. This is a great day for fun, food, prizes, golfing and networking. Everyone looks forward each year to participating in the outing and we usually have a waiting list in case there is a cancellation.
The “Taking Business to New Heights” business expo held the first Thursday in November and at this time is the biggest community event in Huber Heights. Local merchants are invited business networking an hour before the expo is open to the general public.
At our Annual Meeting we recognize members of the Chamber of Commerce that have achieved special recognition, reached a goal or celebrating an anniversary. We also award the Business of the Year, Small Business of the Year, Organization/Non-Profit Business of the Year, and Business Person of the Year. And in memory of Ed Hart, an outstanding business person and civic leader we award the Ed Hart Service Award.
Huber Heights is unique in that it is an urban community within a beautiful rural setting. Residents and visitors alike are offered great opportunities to pursue both career and leisure. With Carriage Hill Five Rivers MetroParks Farm as part of the preservation of the history of Wayne Township we can step back in time to know the way of life of our ancestors. Access to area Universities and Colleges and many businesses from the large Coca-Cola and ABF Freight System, Inc. to the small unique family owned stores provides many great education and employment opportunities.
The Chamber of Commerce has grown right along-side the City and is proud to be part of the continued growth in the city, business, industry, schools and community. We shall continue to be people helping people, with business helping businesses.
